Katherine Rockhill

Katherine began playing the piano at the tender age of 5 and made her first solo performance at 8. She attended the Royal College of Music in London, where she was a Foundation Scholar, major prize-winner and Junior Fellow. Upon graduating she won the college's most prestigious award, the Tagore Medal, which was presented to her by HRH the Prince of Wales.

At the personal request of Prince Charles, Katherine has twice performed at Sandringham House. Katherine has made numerous appearances on both television and radio and has given recitals as part of a duo in the Purcell room, the Wigmore Hall and the Queen Elizabeth Hall. She has also played orchestral piano with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Birmingham Symphony Hall and at the Barbican, London.

In 1998, on a very wet September evening, Katherine was the pianist for the premier of Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells 3' at Horseguards Parade in London. Katherine is the pianist for the Locrian Ensemble of London that performs all over the United Kingdom, and is one of the busiest and most sought after of all musical groups. They are renowned for their 'music by candlelight' concerts performing music by Mozart, Beethoven & Vivaldi in period costume. They also tour all over the country performing the popular 'Last Night of the Proms'concert.

Emphasising her versatility, Katherine has played in many West End musicals including, 'Grease', 'Jesus Christ Superstar', 'Crazy for You', 'Whistle down the Wind' and 'My Fair Lady'. As rehearsal pianist she has worked with Brian Conley, Matt Goss (Bros), Ian Kelsey, Pauline Quirke & Linda Robson and 'This Life' star Ramon Tikaram. More recently she has performed with Lesley Garrett, Katherine Jenkins and renowned Icelandic tenor Garda Cortez. Films include 'Mona Lisa Smile', 'Because of Winn Dixie' and 'The Lakehouse' by Oscar winning composer Rachel Portman. Katherine also made a brief appearance as the pianist in the critically acclaimed 'Edge of Love' starring Keira Knightley.

Katherine's recordings include the soundtrack to Andrew Lloyd Webber & Jim Steinman's 'Whistle down the Wind' and 'Under the Influence' with renowned horn player Dave Lee. With the Locrian Ensemble she has recorded 'Trio for Violin, Cello & Piano' Opus 47 by composer Richard Arnell, which was Editor's Choice in the monthly classical magazine 'Gramophone' and Volkar Andrea Piano Trio which received international acclaim.
